GMO WHITE CORN
Description
White corn is a cereal plant belonging to the Poaceae family. He is one of the sweet corn varieties grown in different parts of the world. Besides being a grain, it is also treated as a vegetable and fruit. It is considered a grain because it is the dried seed of a grass species. It is a vegetable if harvested before maturity. According to the botanical definition, it is the seed-containing part of a flowering plant, hence the fruit. Its white color is due to the presence of two recessive Y alleles. These alleles in white corn do not produce carotenoids, the plant pigments responsible for the red, orange, and yellow colors of many fruits and vegetables. Therefore, the endosperm remains white. The endosperm determines the color of the corn grain. Therefore, white corn has white kernels. White corn contains a lot of sugar and water in the grain, making it sweet and juicy. As corn matures, it loses moisture and converts sugars to starch, making the grain harder. White corn tolerates a wide variety of weather conditions, so it can be grown at any time of the year.
